Dressler syndrome after minimally invasive coronary artery bypass surgery.

چکیده
Dressler syndrome is a well-known complication of myocardial infarction and postsurgical instrumentation of the pericardium (as postpericardiotomy syndrome). Also called postmyocardial infarction syndrome, it typically occurs 3 weeks to several months after the surgery, with symptoms of fatigue, malaise, fever, chest pain, pleurisy, pneumonia, and left shoulder pain. Diagnostic evaluation may reveal an elevated sedimentation rate, leukocytosis, eosinophilia, pericarditis, and pleural effusions. Minimally invasive coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgeries avoid full midline sternotomy, aortic cannulation/manipulation, and use of cardiopulmonary bypass and achieve the same beneficial effect as traditional bypass surgeries with lower rates of complications. Although an English-language literature review from 1996 to 2003 revealed no reports of Dressler syndrome after minimally invasive CABG, the following case indicates that Dressler syndrome can occur after this procedure, probably because the pericardium is breached.

Minimally Invasive Mitral Valve Procedures: The Current State
Since its early days, cardiac surgery has typically involved large incisions with complete access to the heart and the great vessels. After the popularization of the minimally invasive techniques in general surgery, cardiac surgeons began to experiment with minimal access techniques in the early 1990s. Although the goals of minimally invasive cardiac surgery (MICS) are fairly well established a...

The revival of off-pump cardiac surgery and the exploration of less invasive techniques for coronary artery bypass grafting, have lead to an increasing technical difficulty, as compared to conventional surgery using cardiopulmonary bypass. The moving target vessel in off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery, as well as the increasingly limited space in minimally invasive cardiac surgery were not...
متن کاملRefractory Coronary Artery Spasm after Minimally Invasive Direct Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting
Postoperative coronary arterial spasm is a rare but potentially fatal complication. A 51-year-old male patient with a history of a reactive ergonovine stress test coronary angiogram developed refractory coronary artery spasm after undergoing minimally invasive direct coronary artery bypass grafting of the left anterior descending coronary artery. The patient was successfully managed with rapid ...

Coronary diseases/surgery; myocardial revascularization; surgical procedures minimally invasive. Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is the gold standard for the definitive treatment of coronary disease. With the advent of percutaneous transluminal angioplasty, cardiac surgery fell behind, especially for the treatment of oneand two-vessel coronary artery disease, which made surgeons leave th...

BACKGROUND With the introduction of the da Vinci robotic surgical system (Intuitive Surgical, Mountain View, CA) into minimally invasive cardiac operations the outlook for performing coronary artery bypass operations "closed chest" became a reality. METHODS Between May 1999 and December 1999 this new wrist-enhanced instrumentation was used in 61 patients. Six patients suffering from single-ve...
